Chris Avila and Danny Levario both graduated from Notre Dame, and they are currently the President and Vice-President of the Notre Dame Club here in El Paso; but since they were born, they have always bled Orange. They each have fond memories of attending Miner football and basketball games, and each has also had their own fare share of having the opportunity to meet formers Miner players past and present.

So it was only fitting that they are the creators of a new website that is devoted entirely to Miner athletics.

Minimal Portfolio

This minimal portfolio is an original horizontal three-column minimalist accordion site. That’s a mouth full. The minimal portfolio has been successfully themed for WordPress and a stand-alone XHTML markup is ready for CMS integration. The site, lite yet rich, is ideal for customization. An ideal portfolio for any creative wanting to focus solely on the content.

The latest and greatest: The creative portfolio portion of the site. Features a six grid layout, title of work, brief description about the project and a view link. The “Prev & Next” buttons are ajax driven so the visitor never leaves the page to view the full detail of the certain project. A select menu is also ajax driven. When a visitor chooses a particular category of interest, it only loads those particular projects.

The WordPress portion of the project. Works on the latest version with only two plugins needed to make the blog function. The main font title is sIFR. Download the WordPress files below. Be sure to update your sIFR config file. Enjoy!

What is Headup? – Headup is a Semantic Web plugin currently available as an addon for Mozilla’s Firefox browser. Headup presents you with textual and rich media content related to the objects and terms it identifies on the pages you browse.

Main landing page design and development
The design was quite challenging being that we are on complete different time zones and countries. Headup is developed by SemantiNet, an Israeli startup company founded in 2006 and based in Tel Aviv. To learn more about SemantiNet and the team developing Headup please visit http://www.semantinet.com

Since Headup is an a Semantic Firefox addon, it only works with Mozilla. The development was created to read the browser type and reveal the download plugin or a signup form to notify users of updates when it’s available for other browsers. In this case, this is Safari’s view of the website.

I had lots of fun with the project and the folks at Semantinet were hip cats too.

Class on a Couch

Class on a Couch is exactly that – an opportunity to attend a missed class from the comfort of your couch. Using video technology, select universities are able to post lectures online. Students are then able to log on and view the missed class for a fee. The lecture will also include key point notes so the student knows what to excerpt from the lecture. Blend Union – The is portion of the site is the exhibit area. Artists are able to create an exhibit and showcase their work on the exhibit’s main page. When a visitor clicks on any artist’s exhibits they can thumb through the complete exhibit, read a full descriptions of each piece of work, listen to audio excerpts on the creation process, leave comments, rate the piece, and have the option to purchase the piece of work.

When Apple released their iPhone SDK; I was excited to create my first iPhone application (app). I had a learning curve with language syntax, but I caught on with some help of their online tutorials and books. The final iPhone app gave the artist the ability to view comments, messages, rating, sold items, and has two cool features that allows them to take a picture of their piece of work, add an audio excerpt with the built in mic on the iPhone and upload it to their profile. Once they have completed the process they can add a description and price. Once its saved, its showcased on their profile and ready for visitors to view and hear.

The Online Business Card Generator allows clients to create business cards at their leisure and disposal. Often times, business cards would takes weeks to be designed, formatted, and created, but the Online Generator eliminates 2 of the middle-men involved in this process. The Online Generator uses a business card Template that is created at the onset of service and allows clients to re-order cards, create cards for new employees, and update information on current cards. The business card is then automatically sent to the printers, via email, and ready for pick up within a few days. The Generator has allowed clients to save money spent on the agency’s time, and the agency is able to use that time and money for the client’s other creative needs; a catchy slogan, sweet logo, or the next “Big Idea.” MBP account. The task of keeping a website’s content fresh and up-to-date can be a daunting one, yet it’s of utmost importance to the success of that website. Adding a Content Management System (CMS) to your website makes updating content a snap, but until recently these were very expensive to implement. The cost of implementing a CMS is much lower today than it was a few years ago for a couple of reason, there are some good comprehensive solutions available now that require very little customization and some of these solutions are open-source so there is no software costs is implementing them. I have developed several content management system websites recently and have seen the value that these add to a website.
